Open Farm Sunday
Bedfordia Farms are active members of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming). Through LEAF Bedfordia Farms support the local community.
During the day visitors are given a taste of life on the farm by participating in Open Farm Sunday. In 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016 Bedfordia Farms opened its gates to the general public attracting over a thousand visitors each time, with 2016 hosting over 2,000 members of the general public.
- Seeing a sow with her 14 day old piglets.
- Tractor and trailer rides through the fields showing where breakfast cereal, bread and vegetable oil comes from.
- Having a look at the various machinery on the farm.
- Watching a lorry tipping grain.
Open Farm Sunday provides “a chance and rare opportunity for families to come and find out how a working farm really operates. We receive extremely positive feedback and appreciation from visitors each time he event is held” Ian Smith, MD Bedfordia Farms.
2016 saw over £4,500 being raised, with money going to The Trussell Trust, Road Victims Trust, and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute, along with some other local groups in Milton Ernest.
